The cello stole my heart when I was only 7 years old. I had to wait until I was 8 years old to begin to take lessons and play. My first professional performance was for the King of Norway when I was still 8 years old. This is the cello I began my musical studies on.
This has begun a long-held love affair with music. The variety of styles, of musical expression from classical, to trance, from new age to hip hop, from early folk to jazz, each style has it’s colors and flavors which entice me to surround myself with sound.
Music has also been a major player in the world of healing.Since time immemorial, healing powers have been attributed to music. The ancients made drums and rattles, and the earliest known man-made instrument is a bone flute; as they created therapeutic music for their communities.
In the tradition of healing with music, I have studied Guided Imagery and Music Therapy, GIMT, using this method in healing sessions with clients. I feel like I am continuing an important and meaningful practice when I create meditations and help client to “travel” into altered states through music.
